I've enjoyed reading all the posts on your memories of food with your family. Clearly you all have been blessed with a good family and good food too, Alhamdulillah.. I hope I managed to reply to everyone's post. If I missed anyone tell me!
So, I'd like to share a bit of my memories too if you don't mind reading. As a child I was passionate about food. I loved eating! And may have had certain nicknames because of that.. which I hope my cousins have forgotten..
Anyway, that maybe explains my interest in the kitchen and wanting to know how to cook. I'd pick up things from observing and later on collected recipes, tried them out and the rest is history. Studying overseas also made me cook more seriously as I simply wanted to eat Malaysian food haha. And I think for the first time I learned how to feed people and I tell you it is such a satisfying feeling ;)
Like your stories, I too treasure moments eating with my family. I think now, more than ever I appreciate the time we get to eat together, especially since my sisters and I are all married with their own families. So whenever we gather, food is definitely what makes everything more complete. Especially if my mother is the one cooking the food.. Even in our 40s my mum still wants to cook for us :) Mums are the best, right?
So now I wanna try being a good cook to my kids too. And hopefully have conversations at the dinner table that are meaningful and fun.. ;)
mother knows best :)
