BEAUTY TO YOU AND ME

Hey pals ! I’m here again to discuss a topic that kind of reflects ourselves and our own opinion and perceptions. This topic sometimes creates arguments and debates between two different parties or group of people because of contrasting perspectives regarding this matter. However, we must open our mind that it is something that is viewed differently by each individual.

It is BEAUTY - a characteristic of an animal, idea, object, person or place that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction or generally, the quality of being physically attractive. When, I say BEAUTY, everyone has their own image and opinion about it. Some might think having fair skin is beauty. Some might say having high nose is beauty. Some might say having ‘nike’ style eyebrows is beauty. You see, different people have different perception of beauty.‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ is one of the most familiar proverb to us that we often hear when talking about beauty. It literally means BEAUTY is something subjective that we can’t be judged objectively. If someone finds something is beautiful or attractive, it doesn’t that you will find it appealing too.

BEAUTY can be different according to perceptions and perspectives of different people. For example, Pierce Brosnan, an Irish actor, finds that fat girls are attractive and yet he married his wife who is fat and chubby and lived happily until now.

BEAUTY can also be different according to cultural factors. For example, the people of Kayan Tribe in Thailand think that having long neck is beautiful and elegant. The longer the neck, the more beautiful you are!

Mauritanian people think that women with big sized body is attractive and beautiful but here in Malaysia, being slim, fit and skinny is considered beautiful. See? Different, right?

Also, I found that the perspective of beauty might change and differ according to time and mindset of people. Somehow, I think, people’s perspective towards BEAUTY are influenced by the trends and beauty standard at certain era. For example, during the 1990’s having thin eyebrows are considered beautiful and everyone shaved their eyebrows to make it thin and neat as possible. However, nowadays, people tend to have thick and ‘nike’ style eyebrows. Women start to draw thick eyebrows and make it as ‘fleek’ as possible.

These are some people that are beautiful to MY eyes.

BEAUTY is something that is very subjective. Don’t think that your kind of ‘beautiful’ is the same as other people’s ‘beautiful’. Keep in mind that we have different minds so logically, we also view and perceive something differently too.
